PURPOSE:To eliminate the overhead of a computer program to improve the capability of simultaneous processings of many terminals by designating each input/output device in a channel by an additional character and adopting the data echo back system in the channel. CONSTITUTION:When detecting a data input request through a system bus interface of a CCW system, a microprocessor 11 inputs and stores a parameter list for additional character designation from a main storage 4 indicated by PARA-adr. The microprocessor 11 inputs data and transfers it to an echo output buffer 13. If inputted data has an additional character designating character CHRA, additional characters A-D are discriminated in accordance with said stored parameter list. When additional characters are designated, additional characters are transferred to the echo output buffer 13, and the echo output from the echo output buffer 13 is executed after a series of input data are transferred completely to the main storage 4 in accordance with the input request from a CPU.
