PURPOSE:To produce a friction material for clutch, etc., having improved corrosion resistance, by heating and pressing the material after the primary molding, polishing the surface, and immersing in an aqueous solution of a substance which forms an insoluble substance by reacting with the corrosion-promoting substance in the friction material. CONSTITUTION:A friction material such as clutch is produced by heating and pressing the material after the primary molding, polishing the surface, and immersing in an aqueous solution of a substance (e.g. silver nitrate, lead nitrite, etc.) which forms an insoluble substance by reacting with the corrosion- promoting substance in the friction material (e.g. Cl<->, SO4<-2>, etc.). |
