PURPOSE:To prevent an original from shifting in position and wrinkling on glass by providing a crank means which makes fall an original press-contacting plate almost horizontally to the glass surface right before the plate is closed. CONSTITUTION:A support member 6 is pivoted rotatably on the 1st hinge pin 5 of a copying machine body A and energized clockwise by a coil spring 8. The original press-contacting plate B is fitted rotatably to the support member 6 through a lift member 19 and coupled with a fitting member 1 through the crank means 25 consisting of the 1st and the 2nd arms 21 and 23. Further, a compressed coil spring 17 is extended between support pins 13 and 14. In such constitution, when the opened press-contacting plate is closed, it becomes parallel to the glass 26 through the crank means 25. Consequently, the original is prevented from shifting in position and wrinkling.
