PURPOSE:To reduce printing noise when an automatic paper feed apparatus is mounted, by detecting whether the automatic paper feed apparatus was mounted and weakening impact force when said paper feed apparatus was mounted. CONSTITUTION:When an automatic paper feed apparatus 2 is mounted a low level selection signal is inputted to a selector 16 to set a partial paper mode while printing data is latched by a latch circuit 12 on the basis of a printing data latch signal. The printing head driving pulse A of a long period tA and the printing head driving pulse B of a short period tB are outputted from monostable multivibrators 11A, 11B by a printing head start signal. Now, because of the partial paper mode, no large driving current is required and, therefore, the monostable multivibrator 11B outputting the printing head driving pulse B of the short period tB is selected.
