The invention relates to an appliance for cutting and marking a sheet of material, especially a sheet of fabric. The appliance comprises a surface 10 for supporting the sheet, a cutting element 33 for cutting the sheet, a marking device 35 for producing a stream of powder, especially chalk powder, deposited on said sheet to carry out the marking of the latter, a carriage 18 supporting the cutting element and the marking device in positions adjacent to the supporting surface 10, and a motor 27 for automatically displacing the marking device and the supporting surface relative to one another along a first path defining the marking 19 and for displacing the cutting element and the supporting surface relative to one another along a second path defining the profile of a pattern piece 17 to be cut by the cutting element.
