PURPOSE:To enable an accurate and complicated control with simple CPUs by making a start-stop serial transfer of the digital signals of operating parameters via signal transmission lines between two CPUs which compute and control separately the fuel injection quantity and ignition timing respectively. CONSTITUTION:In an engine in which the control of fuel supply and the ignition control of air-fuel mixture are carried out by the first CPU1 and the second CPU2 respectively on the basis of the operating parameters of the engine, a communicating line 28 for transferring the data and transmitting command signals such as engine parameters is connected between CPU1 and CPU2 from the CPU1 toward the CPU2. Further, a communicating line (not shown in the figure) for transferring the confirmation signals for the above commands and the like is connected in the reverse direction to the above. And at the parts of sending and receiving ends of each communicating line 28, a parallel-series conversion circuit 31 and a series-parallel conversion circuit 37 consisting of latch circuits 32, 38 and shift registers 33, 39 for transferring data serial- asynchronously are arranged.
