Process and apparatus for solvent recovery in the production of honeycomb structures, in which the solvent is evaporated off, mixed with air and cooled in a condenser to the dew point of the solvent, then the honeycombs impregnated with a phenol resin/solvent mixture are heated in a furnace to a temperature which is in the range of the boiling point of the solvent, in which the solvent is likewise evaporated, the solvent is likewise cooled to the dew point of the solvent in a condenser, in addition the air leaving the condenser is fed in circulation again to the furnace for honeycomb drying, and the air in the furnace, after the phenol resin has cured, is discharged into the atmosphere as virtually solvent-free air. The solvent recovered in the condenser is fed to the fuel for heating a medium for heating the furnace or plant and, during this, burnt without residue. <IMAGE>
