<p>PURPOSE:To attain high-speed coding and to reduce the memory and to prevent propagation of errors to other block and deterioration in picture quality by dividing the sampling value of the picture into blocks comprising r rows longitudinally and c columns laterally and using the sampling value in each block to apply 2-dimension forecast. CONSTITUTION:A value Pi-1,j is obtained by inputting reproduced values Pi-1,j-1 and Pi,j-1 after forecast coding and an original picture sampling value Qi-1,j+1 to input sections 12,13 and 14. Thus, since the Pi,j,Pi+1,j are obtained from the Pi,j-1,Pi+1,j-1, all sampling points in the block are subjected to forcast coding by repeating the similar operation. In this device, maximum 3 forecast sampling points have only to be stored. Since forecast coding is applied independently at 2 lines each, the error is not given to other samples than the two lines. Since the coding/decoding is applied independently by 2 lines each, high-speed transmission by high-speed reproduction and parallel processing by a VTR is attained.</p> |
