PURPOSE:To improve the casting surface of a casting by compounding a suitable amt. of phosphoric acid binder with refractory raw material powder to form a durable casting mold and drying the mold thereby permitting the repeated use of the durable casting mold with high strength and decreasing the gas to be generated in the stage of casting a molten metal. CONSTITUTION:About 20-90wt% phosphoric acid binder such as aluminum phosphate and magnesium phosphate is compounded and kneaded with the ordinary refractory raw material powder such as alumina or zircon and the mixture is molded by ordinary rammer molding, casting, etc. and is dried. The resulted durable casting molds 5, 7 have the high strength and can be repeatedly used. The gas to be generated from the casting mold during casting of the molten metal is decreased and the casting surface of the casting is good.
