PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform piling and installation of pipe and to omit digging and burying works for embedding the pipes, by bonding two pieces of steel pipes in parallel, communicating the lower ends of the straight pipes, and forming airtight U shaped pipe path. CONSTITUTION:The upper part of a pipe 1 is hit with a hammer and the like. A part of the upper end is made to remain, and the pipe is embedded into earth 8. Many U shaped pipes are hit and embedded in the earth with the upper parts being made to remain on the ground and suitable interval being provided. After the embedding work, an inlet 9 and an outlet 10 of each U shaped pipe are sequentially communicated by a communicating pipe 12. Thus a longitudinal coiled pipe is constituted in the earth. In order to perform heat exchange between geothermal energy and a heat medium, the heat medium, which is a fluid such as water, aqueous solution and gas, is made to flow into the coiled pipe through an inlet 11 of the pipe. Then the heat exchange of the heat medium and the heat in the earth is carried out through the pipe wall during the time the heat medium flows in the pipe. The medium is cooled or heated and flows out of an outlet 13.
