PURPOSE:To improve the workability of the bumper installation by configurating a device in such a way that a positioning projection, which permits a bracket to be positioned on the back side of a bumper while it is engaged with the bracket, is formed so that it allows the bracket to move while it is deformed by a force greater than the specified one. CONSTITUTION:In installing a bumper, a retainer 25 is first fitted into each of plural guide plates 23b which are formed in a bumper side section 23. Then, a bolt 27 is screwed into a welded nut of the retainer 25 through a bracket through-hole 26b. This causes a bracket 26b to be secured to the retainer 25 allowing a positioning projection 23d which is projected from the bumper side section 23, to be inserted into a positioning hole 26e which is formed on the bracket 26. Subsequently, the bumper side section 23 equipped with the bracket 26 is bolted together with a bumper main body through an installation hole 23f and the like. Thus, this configuration allows the bracket 26 to be positioned by means of the positioning projection 23d, so improving the workability of the bumper installation.
