PURPOSE:A cosmetic or ointment, containing 2-(1-hydroxy-1-methyl)ethyl-5- methyl-5-(4-methyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)tetrahydrofuran and having safe anti- inflammatory action on the skin, etc. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic or ointment containing 2-(1-hydroxy-1-methyl)ethyl-5- methyl-5-(4-methyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)tetrahydrofuran (bisabolol oxide) in an amount of preferably 0.1-25wt%. The above-mentioned compound has moderate bacteriostatic and fungistatic and germicidal action on various microorganisms, particularly bacteria and molds and very high safety without any irritancy or sensitivity to the skin and further exhibits inhibitory action on carrageenan planter edema and ultraviolet light erythema and further improved anti- inflammatory action. |
