PURPOSE:To make lock release operation ever so easy, by installing a lock hook, being holdable at a lock release position separately each, in a fixed plate at both sides supporting a seat back free of rock motion, in case of a rear seat making this seat back foldable. CONSTITUTION:A bench type rear seat supports a hinge plate 4 locked to both sides of a seat back 2 rotatably with a fixed pate locked to both sides of a seat cushion 1. And, a lock hook 16 having a claw 14 to be engaged with the engaging concave part 13 installed in a sliding edge 12 at a lower part of a hinge plate 4 under energizing force of a spring 15 is attached to the fixed plate 3, thus a lock mechanism is constituted. In this case, an engaging surface 10 is formed in a part of the circumference of a fulcrum shaft 5 of the hinge plate 4, while a pushbutton 7 making the lock hook 16 rotate to the lock release side at the time of thrusting operation is rockably installed in the lock hook 16, and an engaging part 18 to be engaged to the engaging surface 10 a the time of the thrust operation is formed in this button 7.
