PRODUCTION OF RUBBERY COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain a rubbery compsn. simply and economically without requiring a kneading step of scrap rubber with a kneader, by wetting scrap rubber with a plasticizer and/or a softener and blending rubber powder with the wetted scrap rubber. CONSTITUTION:Scrap rubber is wetted with a plasticizer and/or a softener and rubber powder is mixed with the wetted scrap rubber. Said wetting is carried out in such a manner that the surface of the scrap rubber is covered with the plasticizer and/or the softener while retaining the form of the scrap rubber. The plasticizer and/or the softener are/is used in an amount of pref. 1-400pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. scrap rubber. Conventional plasticizers of softeners which are mixed with rubber in a kneading roll or a Banbury mixer can be used. Rubber powder to be mixed with the wetted scrap rubber is used in an amount of pref. 5-100pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. scrap rubber.
