Two 22 metre high towers in their upper planes support individual weights which are automatically and alternately raised and lowered by shaft mechanisms. The mechanisms are provided with line wheel arrangements (8) which by a hydraulic-electric line capstan automatically and at regulated speed raise and lower the weights, which may amount to 50 tonnes or more. - The capstan incorporates a large electric motor of between 250 and 300 kW to drive a hydraulic unit feeding a hydraulic motor to alternately drive and brake the line drum, having at the moment of braking an adjustment so that shafts rotate at a speed of 12.5 rev/min. - Chain wheel gears with roll chain transmission contribute to the raising and lowering of the weights and set the shafts alternately in working rotation.
