NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [X is of formula II or -SO2-; Y is phenylene(1,2,), or of formula III (R5 and R6 are each H, methyl, ethyl or phenyl); R1 is H, methyl, methoxy or ethoxy; R2 is H, methoxy or ethoxy; R3 and R4 are each 1-4C alkyl, cyanoethyl, 3-4C alkoxyalkyl or beta-chloroethyl]. EXAMPLE:A compound of formula IV. USE:Dyes for dyeing hydrophobic fibers red-violet - blue in clear and excellent wet fastness. Suitable for sublimation printing. PREPARATION:Both aldehydes of formulae V and VI, respectively, are condensed in an alcohol to form a compound of formula VII. This compound is then dissolved in an aprotic solvent such as DMF followed by adding an alkali cyanide to add cyanic acid and furthermore by making an oxidizing agent act on the system.
