PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of heat medium and facilitate assembling as well as dismantling of the flange by a method wherein a ring, having the concaved surface thereof at the outside, is provided around the outer periphery of a contacting surface between upper and lower flanges and the upper end of the ring is welded to the upper flange while the lower end of the same is welded to the lower flange by full-circled welding. CONSTITUTION:The upper flange 1 and the lower flange 2 are superposed on a contacting surface 17 and a gap 23, opened toward outside, is formed while the ring 21, made by a metallic thin sheet and provided with the concave surface at the outer periphery thereof, is arranged so as to be contacted with the forms of the gap 23 while the upper end section and the lower end section are fixed to the upper and lower flanges 1, 2 through welding as shown by numerals 20 in the diagram. A stepped section 17' is provided on the way of the contacting surface 17 so as to prevent the deviation of centers of upper cylinder 5 and lower cylinder 6 of the upper and lower flanges 1, 2 and leakage of Na mist or vapor, having a possibility to enter into the gap between contacting surfaces 17, is prevented from leaking toward the outer periphery side of the flanges. The upper end section of the ring 21 is welded to a protruded section 22 through welding as shown by the numerals 20, 20 in the diagram to facilitate the X-rays inspection of the welded section 20 while the dismantling or re-assembling of the cylinder may be effected without damaging the main body of the flange.
