PURPOSE:To use whey or a whey protein concentrate as a protein source for a prepared ingredient for childcare, by carrying out pH adjustment of whey or a solution of whey protein concentrate and addition of ferric chloride so that it has pH in a specific range and ferric chloride in a specific concentration, performing a reaction under a specific condition, removing precipitate and recovering a supernatant liquid. CONSTITUTION:pH adjustment and ferric chloride addition of why or a solution of whey protein concentrate are carried out, and the whey or solution has finally 4.2+ or -0.3 (especially 4.15+ or -0.15) pH and 7+ or -0.5mM (especially 7.2+ or -0.2mM) ferric chloride concentration. It is treated at <=10 deg.C (especially 5+ or -2 deg.C) for about 2hr or more, precipitate is removed, and a supernatant liquid is recovered. The supernatant liquid is adjusted to >=7pH, it is treated for about 2hr or more at <=10 deg.C, precipitated iron is removed, the supernatant liquid is recovered, neutralized to 8.8+ or -0.4pH and, more preferably, desalted.
