In the case of a housing, an access opening to an associated retaining chamber 3 for an electrical plug 4 is provided in one side wall 1. The retaining chamber 3 can be closed by means of a closure cover 5 which is supported in a sliding guide 6, 8, 12, 13. In order to make possible a low structural cost and simple assembly, the edge of the access opening 2 is offset from the side wall 1 on three sides in a step 6 which points towards the centre of the access opening 2. The adjacent walls 7 of the retaining chamber 7 are connected to the step 6. Provided on the fourth side of the access opening 2, between the inner surface of the side wall 1 and an adjacent wall of the retaining chamber 3, is a slot 8 in which one end 10 of the closure cover 5 engages. When the access opening 2 is closed, the closure cover 5 rests on the step 6. When the access opening 2 is open, the closure cover 5 in contrast rests on the wall 7 (which is adjacent to the slot 8) of the retaining chamber 3, which forms a support lying in the plane of the step 6 but which is separated from the side wall 1 by the slot 8. Outside the access opening 2, the closure cover 5 is held between a guide strip 12 and an elastically flexible guide support 13. <IMAGE>
