A deodorant which contains as active deodorant component at least one compound from the group comprising 5,6-dihydroxyflavone, derivatives thereof, 5,6-dihydroxyflavanone and derivatives thereof, is described. The deodorant is able effectively to remove unpleasant or aggressive odours from surface compounds such as hydrogen sulphide and methyl mercaptan.
