A method and device for the continuous winding of winding formers (12) of electrical coils, in the case of which the winding formers (12) are supplied in sequence and in a stepped manner, by means of a transportation device, to a winding head having winding fingers (15) of a winding device, and the winding head and the winding former (12) supplied thereto are moved relative to one another, the winding former (12) being wound with wire (14) with the winding finger (15) rotating about said winding former (12), the winding former (12) subsequently being conveyed onwards and its winding wire end being passed to the subsequent winding former, the wire start and end of each winding (13) in each case being fixed on the connecting elements of the winding former (12) and the winding wire (14) being cut between the winding start and end of successive coils. The winding former (12) is in this case conveyed during winding through the movement circle of the continuously rotating winding finger (15), and the transportation speed of the winding former (12) and the rotation speed of the winding finger (15) are matched to one another in such a manner that the continuous winding of successive winding formers (12) is ensured with the winding finger (15) rotating continuously.
