A linear drive mechanism suitable for use in a robotic manipulator arrangement comprises a rotary motor 1 for directly driving a frame 3 along a linear track 5. The frame is drivingly coupled to a load 6 by means of a pair of steel bands 7, 7' which pass over pulleys 8, 8' mounted at opposite ends of the frame. The load member is displaced, relative to the frame, in response to, and in the same sense as, a displacement of the frame member. |
