PURPOSE:To reflect the intention of the user on a layout by opening a new line automatically when the word does not enter the end of the line and shifting the word as a whole to the head of the next line or shifting the word as a whole to the previous line when the end of the previous line has a space, even at the time of renewing the document. CONSTITUTION:In a documentation device to prepare an English document, at the time of inputting the document, it is judged that the word does not enter the end of one line, and then, the opening of a new line is automatically executed by an input time word unit line-opening means 3, and said word as a whole is shifted to the line head of the next line. At the time of renewing, the same operation is executed by a renewing time word unit linefeeding means 4. When by a renewing time word unit carrying means 5, the end of the previous line has the space where the word of the next line enters, said word is carried to the end of the previous line. This can be executed by confirming that when the word is divided by '-', the section '-' as well is a word unit.
