PURPOSE:To facilitate inserting a wide ink ribbon in position and enable the ink ribbon to be smoothly set, by providing a printer unit comprising a thermal head and a payout shaft and a take-up shaft for an ink ribbon mounted on a frame, and mounting the unit on a fixed mechanism part so that is can be turned or moved. CONSTITUTION:A support shaft 34 serving as a fulcrum for turning of the printer unit 12 is fixed at a deep under part of a fixed frame 14. A frame 38 of the unit 12 is turnably mounted on the shaft 34. On the frame 38, heating elements 46 are arranged in a rectilinear form by a head support plate to form a thermal head 47 with a large printing width. The frame 38 is provided with a shaft support part 62 opened on the lower side and a shaft support part 63 opened on the upper side, an ink ribbon holder as a payout shaft for the large- width ink ribbon is fitted into the part 62, and an ink ribbon take-up roll as a take-up shaft for the ink ribbon is fitted into the part 63.
