PURPOSE:To confirm the contents of a recording in a short time only by reproducing a start end section by using respectively recording magnetic disk in plural annular tracks as a recording element storing a video signal to automatically edit and record a summary of an image recorded in the magnetic tape in the start end section of the tape. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk has plural annular tracks such as 21, 22. A control circuit 8 feeds a command to a second recording circuit so as to record a part of a recording signal when the recording of a program to a magnetic tape is started, stores a part of the respective programs in the respective recording elements 7, detects that all the programs are recorded, and thereafter feeds the command to a running control circuit to move the magnetic tape, feeds the command to a reproducing circuit 5 so as to successively reproduce the signals recorded in the recording element 7 when a sensor detects a specific position of the magnetic tape and feeds to a first recording circuit the command so as to record the signals reproduced in the reproducing circuit 5.
