PURPOSE:To rewite a pattern at a high speed by confirming a pattern which requires rewriting and rewriting this pattern only. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 12 transmits a parameter showing the graphic attributes (segment, circle, are, character string) and a parameter showing the position of a pattern to a display controller 14. The controller 14 writes a pattern to a display memory 15 according to both parameters. Then the CPU 12 displays the memory 15 on a display 16 as shown in the diagram. In this case, a subject designating mechanism 12-1 which designates an editing subject pattern is provided on the display 16 together with a discriminating mechanism 12-2 provided on the display 16 together with a discriminating mechanism 12-2 which discriminates a certain rectangular range including said editing subject pattern on a pattern producible area, an erasing mechanism 12-3 which erases said editing subject pattern, and a display mechanism 12-4 which displays a pattern included in or crossing said rectangular range.
