PURPOSE:To prevent malfunction by detecting the displacement of paper handling pad against the roller upon occurrence of double feed of many sheets and stopping rotation of roller. CONSTITUTION:When 10-15 sheets of papers P are advanced between a paper handling pad 23 and a paper handling roller 3, the pad will separate together with a supporting member 19 from the roller 3 while resisting against the resiliency of compression spring 22 because of its thickness. Here, the pad 23 will separate together with the supporting member 19 from the roller 3 and upon displacement more than predetermined amount, the contacts of limit switch 25 are switched to interrupt power to continual clutch thus to disconnect it. Consequently, rotation of roller 3 will stop to stop feeding of paper P from paper feed table 1 immediately.
