The invention relates to devices for compressing substances in order to change their molecular structure and/or the number of protons of their atomic nuclei, for example to produce synthetic industrial diamonds. To this end, devices having piston rods, striking pins or the like are arranged which in concert and simultaneously, by means of explosions, exert shock momentums onto the substances in the direction of the crystalline structure to be generated. The front ends of all said piston rods are formed as stamping dies specifically corresponding to the different shape of the various crystal subfaces to be produced. These impacts take place in concert at the same time in accordance with the entire crystal shape by means of an appropriate multiplicity of stamping dies. A small "sample crystal" is placed inside the substance, in order then to convert the substance into a crystal of the same type. All processes take place under deep cooling, for example by means of liquid air. The subsequent shock momentums likewise occur simultaneously with an optimum rhythm, the pressure being increased additively. In order to achieve the predefined pressure, the explosion cylinders have a triangular shape. |
