Apparatus for recording the time sequence of an operation composed of a plurality of successive individual steps. To avoid burdening the attendant with complicated inputs during the operation to be monitored, this apparatus possesses a device for the individual indication of the steps in a predetermined order, two randomly actuable switches, a timer, a device for recording a time mark and a symbol, assigned to the indicated step, when the first switch is actuated, and a device for recording a time mark and for advancing the indication to the next step when the second switch is actuated.
