A pharmaceutical preparation comprising an ascorbic acid derivative or its homolog having the general formula (I) wherein R<1> represents an organic residue having a molecular weight of from 15 to 700 and R<2> represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group. This preparation can be used in preventing and improving functional disturbance in the cardiovascular system.
