PURPOSE:To adjust the sensitivity of a control valve to optimum conditions, by finding desired hydraulic pressure to the steering torque of a steering wheel on the basis of an optimum steering torque vs. hydraulic characteristic, while controlling the actual hydraulic pressure so as to become this desired hydraulic pressure. CONSTITUTION:A car speed V, circuit pressure Pb of a control valve 12 out of a pressure sensor 23 and steering torque T out of the steering torque sensor attached to a steering wheel are inputted each to an electronic control unit 22. Inside the electronic control unit 22, there is stored with a steering torque vs, hydraulic characteristic making the car speed a parameter, whereby desired hydraulic pressure Pa is selected from the car speed V and the steering torque inputted on the as is of the said characteristic. This desired hydraulic a pressure is compared with the hydraulic pressure Pb out of the hydraulic sensor 23, whereby the electronic control unit 22 controls a flow rate of a flow controller 21 so as to cause the hydraulic pressure PB to become the desired hydraulic pressure Pa.
