PURPOSE:To prevent the collision of an optical disk and a head arm without fail by providing an optical detecting means to detect whether or not a head arm assembling body of a information processing unit goes to the outside of the optical disk. CONSTITUTION:By the operation of an operating part, a memory media unit 6 provided with plural optical disks 5 starts to rotate. After a one side reading unit 30 is shifted in the upward direction or in the downward direction and stopped at the prescribed position, a head arm assembling body 31 is shifted in the radius direction of an optical disk 5 and the tip head 48 of a head arm 45 starts the reading action. Other side reading unit 30 comes to be waiting condition, the reading action is completed, then the next reading action is started. By an optical detecting means 79 composed of a light emitting element 77 and a photodetecting element 78, it is detected whether or not a head arm 48 goes to the outside of the optical disk 5, the up and down action of the reading unit 30 is prevented while the head arm 48 is facing to the optical disk 5, and the damage due to the collision of both sides can be prevented without fail.
