PURPOSE:To construct a high output type low pressure mercury-vapor lamp which has high luminescent uniformity all over the luminous lamp and low blackning of the wall of the luminous lamp resulting low deterioration of the output of the ultraviolet light throughout its life time, by inserting the luminous lamp in a water cooling jacket so as to cool directly the outer surface of the luminous lamp by means of cooling water. CONSTITUTION:The low pressure mercury-vapor lamp is constructed by inserting the luminous lamp 1 emitting the ultraviolet light in the jacket 2 which is transparent to the ultraviolet light, so as to cool directly the outer surface of the luminous lamp 1 by means of cooling water 5. On the both ends of the inner surface of the luminous lamp 1, one or more C type concave portions 6e, 6f are provided respectively, and mercury is sealed in the concave portions 6e, 6f on the both ends of the said lamp 1 and in the vicinity of them. When the luminous lamp 1 is switched on while cooling it uniformly by means of the cooling water 5 which is kept at a constant temperature in the range of 30-50 deg.C, the mercury can be heated by the heat of electrodes 3a, 3b and discharging arc, evaporated and diffused uniformly in the luminous lamp 1, and when the luminous lamp is switched off the mercury can be condensed in the mercury pool 6e, 6f. |
