PURPOSE:A molding material evolving a small amount of a gas during molding, having improved gas release of molded article, providing a molded article improved appearance and a large flat part free from gas unevenness, obtained by blending a specific novolak resin with specific asbestos fibers. CONSTITUTION:(A) A novolak resin having <=2wt% free phenol content is blended with 5-20wt% based on the total amount blended of asbetos fibers passing through 32 meshes sieve.
