PURPOSE:To improve the reliability for measuring the connection loss of an optical connector by deciding the presence of a foreign matter between the end faces of both connectors based on whether a reflected light is strong or weak, when inserting and attaching a connector to be measured, to a master connector. CONSTITUTION:A master connector 2 is inserted into one opening side of an adaptor 5, and a master connector 4 of a power meter side is inserted and attached to the other opening side. In such a state, the optical output of a light source 1 is measured by an optical power meter 3, and also the quantity of reflected light which is reflected from the emitting end face of the connector 2, by a reflected light use power meter 12. subsequently, the connector 4 is drawn out of the adaptor 5, and one of connectors to be measured 7 which are connected to both terminals of an optical fiber 8 is inserted and attached to the adaptor 5. The other connector 7 is inserted and attached to one opening side of an adaptor 6, and the connector 4 is inserted and attached to the other opening side of the adaptor 6. Next, the output light of the light source 1 is measured by the optical power meter 3, the quantity of reflected light which is reflected by the emitting end face of the connector 2 is measured by the power meter 12, and by comparing a measured value of the power meter 12, whether a foreign matter exists or not is decided. |
