In the case of the hook, which serves, in particular, as a choker or cable-running hook, the insertion slot for the retaining or pulling member (60) is configured as a curved slot with the curvature sensor point in the direction of the slinging part (47). The hook has, moreover, in the region of the arched bearing surface for the retaining or pulling member (60), a greater width (B) than in the region (b) of the insertion slot. Instead of a conventional slinging fork, the hook (30A) may also exhibit, as slinging part, a shortening lug (47) having a keyhole-like through-opening (40) for a round steel chain serving as the slinging member (50A). In this way, it is ensured in a simple manner that the retaining or pulling member, once inserted into the hook opening, cannot slide out of the insertion slot again in the event of a slight tilting and oblique positioning of the hook, but also, in such a case, is deflected by the curved walls, located opposite one another, of the curved slot, and cannot slide through the insertion slot again when the retaining or pulling member is relieved of loading. The greater width of the hook in the region of the arched bearing surface for the retaining or pulling member prevents a tipping or tilting of the hook and consequently contributes decisively to the stabilisation thereof. Owing to the forged-on shortening lug, a considerable reduction in the weight of the slinging device is achieved. <IMAGE>
