An immunoassay reactant and technique to detect the presence of analytes visually are disclosed. The technique involves incorporating a luminescent marker substance into microspheric particles which are labelled with a substance having an affinity for the analyte or a complex containing analyte. The results of the assay may be visualised with a simple fluorometer or a light box.
