PURPOSE:To simply perform masking corresponding to the shape of a work within a short time, by mounting a masking plate having elasticity with an abrasion resistant elastic material provided to the inside thereof to a fixing stand and positioning the same with respect to the work. CONSTITUTION:In shot peening, an arm is inserted through the bracket 5 of a nozzle holder 3 to determine the protruding position of a masking plate 7 so that said masking plate 7 is brought to a bent state along the surface shape of a work W in a state slightly pressed to the surface of the work W. Further, the masking plate 7 is positioned so that the inside edge thereof coincides with the masking boundary line L of the work W and a masking apparatus is clamped by nuts 6. When the work W is rotated in this state and shots 1 are injected from a nozzle 2, excessive shots 1 are impinged to abrasion resistant rubber 8 and the impact force thereof is adsorbed and shot peening is applied only to a required part.
