PURPOSE:To make a fine adjustment and to improve the efficiency of alignment operation by providing a mirror which guides illumination light to an end surface of a solid-state laser rod, a mirror through which its end surface image is observed, and a mirror which corrects a beam shift. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 1 is made incident on the laser rod 6 after its shift is corrected by half-mirrors 3 and 4. The beam is reflected by the mirror 3 to illuminate the end surface of the rod 6 by an LED 9 and its reflected light is further reflected by the mirror 4 and observed on a monitor TV 8. A mirror is adjusted finely over a look at the position relation between a laser rod contour 13 and a beam contour 14 and thus the beam 1 is aligned with the center of the rod 6. Thus, the fine adjustment is made accurately and the efficiency of the alignment operation is improved.
