PURPOSE:To provide two different sheet transporting speeds by deforming a resilient sheet transport roller in its radial direction and by changing the substantial linear speed of its periphery. CONSTITUTION:When a plate cam 9 is in the position as shown by the solid line, the sheet (out of illustration) fed into the space between a thermo-recording head 7 and a sheet transporting roller 1 is transported in the C direction with a radius at a speed the same as the linear speed V1 of the periphery of roller 1 which is rotating in the B direction at a specified speed. When the cam 9 in the position shown by the two-dotted chain one, on the other hand, the roller 1 deforms into a form swollen to the left and right. In this condition, the speed at which the sheet is being transported is equivalent to the circumferential speed V2 of an apparent roller with a radius E, being lower than the circumferential speed V1. This selective location of cam 9 provides two different speeds for sheet transportation.
