PURPOSE:To enable high printing speeds to be available without causing nozzle clogging by using thermally sublimating ink (solid). CONSTITUTION:An ink jet printer is composed of an air supply to circulate a constant amount of air in a case 1, thermally sublimating ink 4 stored inn the case 1, a heating source 5 to heat the thermally sublimating ink 4 and a heating source drive circuit 6 to drive the heating source 5. If the heating source 5 is driven by the heating source drive circuit 6, the thermally sublimating ink 4 is heated, its part being evaporated into ink mists. At that time, the ink mists thus generated are carried to a nozzle 2 by an air flow and then is injected through the nozzle 2. Since the thermally sublimating ink 4 is of solid type, the clogging of the nozzle 2 due to ink drying does not occur. In addition, the instantaneous generation of ink mists allows printing at high speeds. |
