PURPOSE:To obtain a high and uniform head efficiency by forming an area excluding the vicinity of a slide contact surface to a magnetic recording medium consisting of a metallic magnetic material, by a three layer structure consisting of the metallic magnetic material, a ferrite, and the metallic magnetic material in order in the track width direction, in a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A core half body block of roughly a rectangular parallelopiped shape corresponding to a many piece portion of core half bodies 2, 3 is formed from metallic magnetic materials 20, 30, a groove 7 is formed at a prescribed interval, and a recessed part 40 corresponding to a winding window is formed in parallel to the upper side edge of an abutting surface. Next, the core half body blocks 20, 30 are butted and joined, and a joint core block 90 is obtained. A groove 8 has a prescribed depth from the lower face opposed to the upper face which a gap 50 of the core block 90 faces, and it is roughly orthogonal to the abutting surface. A rectangular thin plate-shaped ferrite piece 6 is inserted into the groove 8, and its both side faces and tip surface are joined to the inside face by means of an adhesion, etc., and fixed. Next, a magnetic head core 9 is obtained by using a broken line A as a cutting plane and cutting the core block 90 by a metallic magnetic material part.
