<p>NOVEL ANHYDRIDE TERMINATED POLYIMIDES AND THE CROSSLINKED PRODUCTS THEREOF Novel carbinol containing polyimides are prepared by reacting selected carbinol-containing tetracarboxylic acid compounds (e.g. bis(methyl half-ester) of 3,3',4,4'-benzhydroltetra-carboxylic acid) with polyfunctional polyamines (e.g. 4,4'-methylenedi-aniline, 1,6-hexanediamine, etc.). The polyimides may be crosslinked at low temperatures via a ring opening reaction between the carbinol and the diacid, acid-ester or anhydride group(s).</p> |
