PURPOSE:To provide an image without lost parts by fixing a distance between a lens and a linear image sensor and changing the distance between the lens and a sending manuscript to change the reduction ratio. CONSTITUTION:The distance between the lens 1 and the linear image sensor 2 is fixed by unifying them into one unit. When image information is sent to a facsimile equipment with different main scanning resolution, a housing 3 is moved forward or backward by rotating a motor 13 to one direction or another direction to read the image on the sending manuscript A. Thus, the written picture on the sending manuscript A reduced to the sizes corresponding to G3 or G4 mode is projected on the linear image sensor 2.
