PURPOSE:To improve photosensitivity by forming a region contg. an electron acceptor in an electrostatic charge generating layer in an acceptor concn. distribution in the film thickness direction increasing toward the side of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A charge generating layer (CGL) is vapor-deposited on a conductive substrate and a charge transfer layer (CTL) is formed on it to form a photosensitive body, and at least one part of CGL has a region contg. an electron acceptor in a concn. distribution in the layer thickness direction of CGL, preferably, increasing toward the substrate, and a charge generating material is, preferably, vapor-deposited together with this acceptor to form a thin film, or both may be alternately repeatedly laminated in thickness of each layer <=30nm. The charge generating material to be added to CGl is, preferably, a metal-free phthalocyanine, and a kind of phthalocyanine represented by the formula not shown. Such a distribution of said acceptor in higher concn. on the side of the substrate can improve carrier generation efficiency and enhance sensitivity without deteriorating carrier injection efficiency to CTL. |
