PURPOSE:To maintain a wide visual field and to image pick up an object by providing a memory for an image for accommodating the plural image data different in an image forming position from an image pick up element and a means for controlling an address of said memory and synthesizing plural image data. CONSTITUTION:A control section 7 controls a light flux moving plate driving section 8 when receiving an image pick up command, designates a reading start to an image data reading section 9 and at the same time designates the address on a first column of a first line to an address generating section 11. Every time when the data of one picture element is read from a solid state image pick up element 3, a column address is increased by 2. When the data of 1 line is read, a line address is increased by 2 top read the data of 1 picture plane's share and stored in an image memory 12 through an A/D converter 10. If there is the number of the elements 3 of MXN in the memory 12, the image having the number of the elements of 2MX2N is formed. On reading the image, when a reading is carried out from the first column of the first line by a raster scan, the image data having a resolution two times the longitudinal and the horizontal direction and the image data with the same width of the visual field is obtained.
