PURPOSE:To obtain a product having a component element ratio in almost complete agreement with the ratio of charged raw materials, by reacting the respective component elements in an aqueous solution with oxalic acid in the presence of a specific alcohol in a process for producing the titled oxide by thermally decomposing the resultant precipitates obtained by the above-men tioned reaction. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing ions of elements to constitute a perovskite type oxide expressed by the formula ABO3 (A is one or more of Ba, Sr, Ca and Pb; B is one or more of Ti and Zr) is stirred. A 4-15C monool type alcohol containing oxalic acid dissolved therein is dropped into the aqueous solution. After completing the reaction, the stirring is stopped. Precipitates together with the aqueous solution form the lower phase, and the alcoholic phase forms the upper phase. The latter can be readily separated from the aqueous phase by decantation. The precipitates suspended in the aqueous solution are filtered off to give a cake, which is then washed with an alcohol, dried and fired to afford the aimed perovskite type oxide.
