A multi-directional texture intended to constitute a porous preform for producing a part made from composite material is manufactured by winding a filament onto a support structure lined with projections, the filament, before winding, being pre-impregnated by means of a binding agent capable of being removed, after winding the filament, virtually without leaving a solid residue. The binding agent is a resin which can be removed by heat, having a virtually zero char (coke) content, for example an acrylic resin, or alternatively an adhesive which can be removed by solvent, and it enables the filament to be held in place during the winding operation.
