The invention relates to a safety mechanism for a socket, connector plug and sealed extension piece. It consists of a body 1 made from insulating material, two closing-off arms 2, two links 4, two seals 16 and two angular-action springs 7 and 12. The arms 2 rotate on the spindles 3 and bear on the cells 5 by means of the pressure of the spring 7 and, if an attempt is made to insert an article into one of the cells, a safety catch on the arm 2 becomes housed on a boss of the link 4 and locks the mechanism. When the pins of a plug are simultaneously inserted, the pins rotate the arms, push the tips (noses) of the links and the bosses of the links, pass into the circular notch of the arms and allow the pins to pass, the seals 16 on the extension piece closing off the cavities; the connection plug comprises the same mechanism. <IMAGE>
