PURPOSE:To prevent incurring of a large power loss, according to the method wherein a power division type automatic transmission gear is provided with a cone clutch reliably coupling the crank shaft of an engine directly to a transmission shaft direct-driving a planetary gear device. CONSTITUTION:A title device comprises a first transmission shaft 2, coupled directly to a crank shaft 20 through a torque converter 1 and transmitting a power from the crank shaft 10 to a planetary gear device 4; a second transmission shaft 3, transmitting a power from the crank shaft 10 directly to the planetary gear device 4/ and a gear shifting clutch means C disposed within a torque converter 1 and a coupling the crank shaft 10 directly to the second transmission shaft 3 through the motion of a clutch piston 5. The clutch piston 5 of the gear shifting clutch means C is formed in an annular manner, and the clutch piston 5 is supported to a pump housing 14 of the converter 1 in a manner that it is rotated togetherwith the housing 14. Further, a cone clutch 16 is mounted between the inner speripheral surface of the clutch piston 5 and the outer peripheral surface of the second transmission shaft 3. |
